Braintree's Ashley Russell Named Gatorade Girls' Basketball Player of the Year

The Braintree senior has won the title of best player in Massachusetts for the second year in a row.

Braintree basketball player Ashley Russell has been named the 2014-15 Gatorade Girl Basketball Player of the Year for Massachusetts for the second year in a row.

A star on the court and in the classroom, Russell averaged 13.2 points, 9.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 3.0 steals per game this year according to the Boston Herald along with a B+ average in school.

After graduation, Russell will play basketball at the University of Pennsylvania.

Russell and the rest of the Wamps will go for back-to-back titles this Saturday when they face Central for the Division 1 State Championship at 5:45 p.m. at the DCU Center in Worcester/
