Brewers Hoping to Craft Beer in Braintree
The Planning Board heard from Widowmaker Beer about a proposed brewery on Wood Street.

BRAINTREE, MA — Don’t let a beer name Widowmaker make you think that the spouses of those who consume it could be single in the near future. Rather, it’s a statement to the amount of work that homebrewers Colin Foley and Ryan Lavery have put into their craft.
Foley joked after Tuesday night’s hearing for Widowmaker Brewery that the name comes from the amount of time beer brewing has taken from his and Lavery’s significant others. The two are hoping to expand their hobby, applying to run a brewery on Wood Road in the same building as Pure Hockey.
Foley said that their love for creating beer started as a hobby in the corner of his basement before expanding and selling their creations. If the brewers get approval to set up shop, they hope to not only run the brewery but operate a taproom for tastings as well.

The Planning Board says they need engineering plans and had questions about if the current 88 parking spaces are enough.
The board will discuss the plan again in February.
