Explore Braintree’s newly opened Riverwalk with Town Councilor Meredith Boericke

Event Details
Join Town Councilor Meredith Boericke on Saturday, September 20, from 10 to 11 AM*, for coffee, conversation, and a casual stroll along the Monatiquot Riverwalk. Bring your questions and ideas for our town, and marvel at seeing the river run free for the first time in 200 years!
The walk will kick off at the trailhead on Plain Street, near the railroad crossing at the intersection with Hancock Street. The path is accessible, and all are welcome!
The Riverwalk project represents many priorities and goals from Braintree’s Master Plan, including:
Increasing public access to the Monatiquot River
Improving climate resiliency
Restoring the river's habitat
This fabulous new public resource also encourages reinvestment in the long-blighted 29-acre "Armstrong Industries" property, with the proposal for new housing and a bridge that will connect both sides of the property. The riverwalk will take us through the middle of the property, and you can see where the new housing is proposed.
For more information about the Riverwalk, check out this article from Councilor Boericke’s newsletter. To receive updates about the Armstrong Property Development and other happenings in town, subscribe to the Councilor’s newsletter.
*The rain date for this event is Sunday, September 21 from 10 to 11 AM.
