City Of Braintree: Mayor Kokoros And Chief Dubois Letter Of Support For Nero's Law

Today, the Joint Committee on Public Safety and Homeland Security will hold a public hearing on an Act Providing for the Care and Transportation of Police Canines Injured in the Line of Duty (Nero’s Law). 

Last week, Mayor Charles Kokoros and Chief Mark Dubois sent a joint letter to the Committee in support of the bill. The current, and arguably outdated, state of the law fails to account for the invaluable service and sacrifice made by police canines during each deployment by prohibiting the administration of medical care if injured in the line of duty. Police canines spend their careers valiantly serving and protecting their handlers, fellow officers and the public, and it is time that the Commonwealth afford them the same level of care and protection provided to their brothers and sisters in law enforcement. 

The Town of Braintree remains fully supportive of Nero’s Law.
