Classes Back In Session At South Middle School Thursday

The school will reopen March 8.

BRAINTREE, MA — The second of a pair of schools closed due to damage sustained in Friday's nor'easter will reopen Thursday.

Superintendent Frank Hackett announced that South Middle School was made weathertight Wednesday morning and will be ready for class Thursday.

"All air quality samples have been analyzed and are within normal ranges, and our environmental consultant will continue to regularly test and monitor air quality over the coming weeks to ensure safety. The affected classrooms will continue to be cleaned throughout the day and into the evening, and we anticipate that the new ceiling tiles will be in place by the morning. We ask that parents and students not visit the school today so that our staff can stay focused on preparing for our opening. With that, everyone is looking forward to seeing students in the morning!" Hackett wrote.
