Deer Hunting To Be Allowed In Braintree
Conservation Commission members said Thursday that hunting could be a way to control the deer population

BRAINTREE, MA — Some bow hunting could be allowed this fall by the Braintree Conservation Commission.
The board voted Thursday to create a policy which would govern deer hunting in open spaces overseen by the commission. The areas include Eaton’s Pond, Cranberry Pond and an area off of South Street, according to the Patriot Ledger.
Commission members say hunting could be a way to control the deer population. The specifics of the policy still need to be worked on but ideas include requiring a hunting permit and limiting hunting days. Any policy would be limited to bow hunting as hunting with firearms is not allowed in Braintree.

Commission member Gail Feldman was the lone no vote, citing a need for more work before a decision is made.
The commission will work on the policy at their next meeting.
