Despite Lower Rate, Braintree Property Taxes Increase
The town council approved the rate this week.

The good news for Braintree taxpayers? The town’s tax rate is going down. The bad news? The tax bill for most property owners in town is likely still going up.
This week, the town council approved a residential tax rate of 10.98 per $1,000 of assessed value and $24.65 for commercial and industrial properties, according to the Braintree Forum.
While the rates are 9 and 30 cents lower than last year, that doesn’t necessarily translate into lower tax bills. The average assessed value for property in Braintree is up from $364,642 last year to $382,650.
