Doctor's Express Opens in Braintree Offering Urgent Care, Other Medical Services

Doctor's Express, which began in Springfield, MA, now has a location at 485 Granite St. in Braintree.

The former Irish Cottage retail store on Granite Street in Braintree has been transformed into a modern healthcare center called , complete with an X-ray machine, medical assistants and a doctor available at all times.

Doctor's Express held its grand opening last Thursday evening. Medical staff, its owners Kevin and Lee Moehlenkamp, business leaders from across the South Shore and Mayor Joseph Sullivan were on hand for a ribbon-cutting and a tour of the facility.

The Braintree location joins the original Doctor's Express in Springfield and over the next several months franchisees will open centers in Natick, North Andover, Natick, Saugus, Watertown and other locations in the Boston area.

"There's a lot of pressure now for high-quality care at a low cost," President Rick Crews said.  

The key to offering that experience, Crews said, is to stay focused on the patient. An electronic medical records systems creates efficiency, along with specialized staff training. Where an emergency visit may take four hours, Doctor's Express takes less than one, Crews said, at one-fifth the cost.
