Erin Joyce, Former Braintree Planning Board Chair, Running For Mayor

BRAINTREE, MA — Mayor Charles Kokoros has drawn a challenger for his re-election bid in 2023.

Erin Joyce, a former chairperson of the Braintree Planing Board and the Hollis Elementary School PTO Board Co-President, announced her campaign for mayor on Tuesday night. Joyce is a civil engineering consultant based in Braintree.

"Right now, the Town is at a crossroads and is facing significant challenges," Joyce said.

"It's time to get Braintree back on track with professional administration and decisive leadership, a fiscally responsible commitment to taxpayers, and a dedicated focus on our families in the Braintree Schools."

As for her past roles in local politics, Joyce has served as a member of the Braintree Master Plan Steering Committee and the Braintree Charter Review Commission in addition to her Planning Board leadership.

She is also a member of the Braintree Chamber and South Shore Chamber of Commerce. Professionally she is a board member of the Massachusetts Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors and National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying Board, and is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers Member and the Boston Society of Civil Engineers.

She and her husband, Michael, are raising three boys in Braintree.

Kokoros was first elected mayor in 2019. He has already announced his intention to run for re-election and will host a campaign fundraiser on Thursday at Sons of Italy on King Hill Road.
