Florida Developer Targets Braintree, South Shore Plaza For Apartments

Zom Living has proposed a 495-unit apartment complex in a lot near South Shore Plaza in Braintree, according to multiple reports.

BRAINTREE, MA — A Florida developer is eyeing Braintree for their first foray into the Boston-area market.

According to multiple media reports, Zom Living is proposing a 495-unit complex which would be built in a lot near South Shore Plaza.

Zom officials didn't return an email requesting comment this week.

Banker & Tradesmen reports that the apartment complex, called The Residences on Granite, would include 180 senior living apartments. Parking would be on the lower levels of the two five-story apartment buildings, according to the report.

The Boston Business Journal is reporting that the developer has reached an agreement to purchase the lot for the buildings from Simon Property Group for $20 million, but there are still hurdles to clear.

Banker & Tradesmen reports that the project will need clearance from both the Braintree Town Council and Planning Board, the latter of which must approve and issue a special permit.
