Happy 375th Birthday Braintree!

Braintree celebrated their 375th birthday Wednesday night at Town Hall.

Town pride, family fun, and a cake that had to be seen to be believed were all promised at the Braintree 375th Birthday party and the Braintree 375 Committee delivered on all counts.

Residents were treated to historic reenactors playing such icons as John Adams and John Hancock; exhibits explaining the history of Braintree; birthday cards made by children at the Thayer Library; and of course, a cake of Braintree.

Made by Montilio’s Baking Company, the cake represented an edible rendition of the town’s historic district. Uno Pizzeria & Grill and Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream also provided refreshment.

Prior to the cake cutting ceremony, Mayor Joseph Sullivan gave brief remarks praising the town and the party.

“Is this a great birthday party or what?” he said with excitement. “As we think about our past, let’s appreciate the present and let’s know that the people here are not here because they want a piece of cake. They’re here because they care about Braintree and they’re going to work hard to build a bright future for the little ones and the older ones.”
