Braintree for a long time was one of the best towns to go to get a baseball bat, or a pair of soccer cleats, but that all changed in 2016 when Sports Authority closed all its stores, including the Braintree location. Several residents took to Facebook asking for a new sporting goods store. A few people mentioned Dick's Sporting Goods as an idea.
