Hobby Lobby Planning Braintree Store

The arts and crafts shop is working on a store at the Marketplace in Braintree on Grossman Drive.

BRAINTREE, MA — A national arts and crafts store is planning a new location at the Marketplace in Braintree.

Hobby Lobby has plans for a store at 300 Grossman Dr. An opening date on their website is not listed and the store finder only indicates that the store is opening soon.

The store will be Hobby Lobby's fourth in Massachusetts and first in the Greater Boston area. The other locations are in Seekonk, Holyoke, and Athol.

The Oklahoma City-based company has made headlines in recent years for their objection to the Affordable Care Act, arguing that a provision that made it mandatory for companies to cover the cost of the morning-after pill was a violation of the ownership family's Christian beliefs. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled 5-4 in 2014 that the company could opt out of that portion the law.

Last year, the company was forced to return more than 5,500 ancient Iraqi artifacts purchased and pay a $3 million fine.
