Homeowners Choose to End Braintree Lights

The Christmas display on Messina Woods Drive will end after this year.

The Christmas lights and music on Messina Woods Drive are being shut off for good.

After 10 years of decorating and synchronized Christmas lights and music, the four homes known to produce the Braintree Lights have decided to end the annual celebration of the holidays.

Michael Hammond, the homeowner that started the display, said the popularity of the lights have caused traffic issues that can’t be solved.

“We had a neighbor who couldn’t get into her house for over an hour because the traffic was backed up so bad and that’s just not what we intended,” he told WHDH.

The displays takes months to coordinate, starting in June, with the setup beginning in October.

The final show took place on Dec. 23 with the lights remaining up without the music for the rest of the holiday season.
