Odor Sends Kids At East Middle School Sent To Hospital

More than two dozen students have been hospitalized, according to reports.

BRAINTREE, MA — Students at East Middle School have been sent to the hospital, according to reports.

In an email to parents, East Middle School Principal John Sheehan wrote that a cleaning solution that is used to clean an oven in the cafeteria kitchen was not properly drained before the oven was started, causing an odor to be released.

Braintree Fire was called once the odor was detected and students who said they had eye irritation were checked out by firefighters.

Reports say that 25 students and a teacher were hospitalized as a precaution.

The building has been cleared for use, but the kitchen has been closed for the day. Pizza will be provided for any student who usually buys lunch.
