Last Place Braintree Youth Basketball Team Surges to Win Championship
Congrats to all the girls. They worked hard all season and showed a lot of progress which was proven in the championship game.
March Madness was in full swing in the Braintree Youth Basketball 6th & 7th Grade Girls Division playoffs this past weekend.
The championship game played on Saturday March 16th at Thayer Academy had the 4th seeded team coached by Bill Proulx facing the 13th seeded team coached by Steve McCray.
Coach McCray's team came into the playoffs having finished as the last place team in the regular season, with a record of 0-9.

The team never gave up and went on a three-game winning streak in the playoffs that put them in the championship game. A hard fought battle took place in the championship game with the lead changing hands multiple times, but in the end, the underdog last place team beat the odds and won a close game by the score of 31-23.
All throughout the playoffs, they fought fearlessly and proved to all that the underdogs can come back to take it all!
