BRAINTREE, MA — Interim Assistant Superintendent Jim Lee can take the interim part off his title.

The school committee met Monday night and voted to name Lee the permanent assistant. Lee was previously the housemaster of Braintree High School and moved to his new position in June. The appointment came after five people were interviewed for the position, but none were considered to be a good fit.

Superintendent Frank Hackett said the recent restructuring in the administrative office gave them a chance to see if Lee and Kidwell would be good fits.

“It's worked out really well and they're quality people,” Hackett said.

The assistant superintendent opening was created when Jennifer Fay stepped down from the position to become the district's director of personnel and student services.

Lee has been with Braintree since 2013. He previously worked in the Manchester Essex Regional School District.

Next up will be two interim positions at the high school - Headmaster Andrew Delery and Housemaster Michael Larkin. Hackett said he wanted to address the administration positions first and will move to those positions next.
