MA Woman Dead After Crash With Deer, Other Vehicle In Braintree

Two people exited their SUV on Route 3 in Braintree after striking a deer, then another vehicle struck the passenger, who died.

BRAINTREE, MA — A Massachusetts woman is dead after she was hit by another vehicle while inspecting her car that had hit a deer on Route 3 in Braintree, Massachusetts State Police said.

Around 3:10 a.m. on Sunday, Massachusetts State Police troopers responded to a crash involving two vehicles on Route 3 northbound in Braintree that resulted in the death of a woman who has since been identified as Magdalena Desrosiers, 35, of Roxbury.

Preliminary investigation found that a 2013 Toyota Rav4 was northbound on Route 3 near the 40.2 mile-marker in Braintree. The Rav4 struck a deer and came to a stop in the right lane to assess damage to the vehicle.

The driver and a passenger had exited and were on foot when a Jaguar F-PACE SUV traveling in the right lane swerved into the breakdown lane to avoid striking the Rav4.

The driver of the Rav4, a 63-year-old Roxbury man, was transported to an area medical facility via ambulance. Desrosiers was also transported suffering serious injuries and pronounced deceased after arriving to the hospital.

The center and right travel lanes of Route 3 were closed for nearly three and a half hours after the crash. Traffic was able to pass in the left lane, while analysis and cleanup took place.

The crash remains under investigation.
