Man Wanted For Attempted Murder In Brazil Arrested In Braintree: ICE

The 29-year-old will remain in custody while he waits for a hearing before a federal immigration judge.

BRAINTREE, MA — A man wanted on charges in Brazil was recently arrested in Braintree, which starts the process for him to likely be deported from the country, officials said.

Enforcement and Removal Operations Boston said that the man, only identified as a 29-year-old from Brazil, was arrested in Braintree on Sept. 19. He is currently wanted for attempted murder by a criminal court in the city of Itambacuri in the Minas Gerais province of Brazil, officials said.

The man first entered the United States unlawfully in 2005, and U.S. Border Patrol arrested and released him. A federal immigration judge ordered him removed, which he did voluntarily sometime in 2012.

However, he "unlawfully reentered" the United States again sometime prior to February 2019, officials said.

Fast forward to now and officials will seek to have the man removed from the country again. He will remain in Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody pending a hearing before a federal immigration judge.
