MBTA Looking for Braintree Teens Caught Vandalizing Red Line Trains at Downtown Crossing

Braintree officials are working with Transit police to identify suspects.

The MBTA and Braintree school officials are looking for Braintree teens that were caught on camera damaging Red Line cars while at Downtown Crossing.

Monday afternoon, transit police received a report of a group of teens that knocked out the window of a train at the station.

A witness onboard the train told police that he saw about 200 teens in blue Braintree High School uniforms and 10-15 teens hitting the windows. The witness said he observed a few windows shatter but not break or kicked out.

One teen wearing a number 22 Braintree basketball jersey and another teen wearing a white hat were seen standing next to the broken window according to the incident report.

Surveillance video show the youths on the platform banging and knocking on the train car while passengers were still inside.

The teens were likely on their way to the TD Garden for a Braintree girls’ basketball game against Andover.

No arrests have been made but Transit police are working with Braintree officials to help identify suspects.
