Medical Marijuana Dispensary Being Considered In Braintree
Native Sun Wellness proposed opening the dispensary at 120 Granite St., where Pier 1 Imports used to be.
BRAINTREE, MA — The Braintree Town Council will consider a proposal for a medical marijuana dispensary to open in town.
Native Sun Wellness proposed opening the dispensary at 120 Granite St., where Pier 1 Imports used to be. The company also operates a recreational cannabis dispensary in Hudson and another that will open in North Attleboro.
The town council meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m., Wednesday, at Town Hall. Representatives from Native Sun Wellness will discuss the dispensary, its security, how minors will be protected and making sure the store won't be a nuisance to the neighborhood. Representatives will also answer questions from residents.

For those that can't make the meeting, there will be a virtual forum at 6 p.m., Thursday. Residents can register for the virtual meeting here.
The Town Council in 2018 voted unanimously to ban recreational marijuana businesses from opening in Braintree. Council members cited residents voting 10,985-9,251 against legalizing recreational marijuana in 2016. The council's 2018 vote does not apply to medical marijuana.
