New Ice Cream Shop Coming To Hancock Street
Foley's Ice Cream Parlor will be serving treats in a few months, according to Mayor Joseph Sullivan.

BRAINTREE, MA — Braintree is getting a new ice cream shop, Mayor Joseph Sullivan revealed Wednesday night.
Residents Jen and Mike Foley are working on opening Foley’s Ice Cream Parlor on Hancock Street. Sullivan made note of the new shop during his State of the Town address at Town Hall. He said they will be ready to start selling ice cream within the next two months.
Sullivan quipped that combined with Daddy's Dairy on Union Street, Braintree could become the ice cream capital of the South Shore, leading to delicious results.

The new venture was considered proof by Sullivan that Braintree is business and commerce friendly, noting the town’s location at the Interstate 93-Route 3 split. He added that there is new retail at South Shore Place, expansion at South Shore Plaza, and more businesses opening at places like the town’s side of the Weymouth Landing.
The good news came despite the rising popularity of online retail, which has brought hard times to traditional brick and mortar stores.

“The challenge to the business market, particularly to our brick and mortar stores is real. We will work with our retailers to see that they remain healthy in this ever-evolving retail marketplace,” Sullivan said.
In addition to restaurants and retail, Sullivan said Braintree has attracted larger businesses such as the Channel Fish Company and Symmons Industries.
