New Police Chief For Braintree Isn't So New

The deputy chief has stepped in to take the top leadership role.

BRAINTREE, MA — The town has a new police chief, but he’s a familiar law enforcement leader.

Mayor Erin Joyce has appointed Deputy Chief Robert Joseph to serve as acting chief, following the recent departure of Chief Timothy Cohoon.

“Joseph’s many years of service as a senior law enforcement professional will serve him well as he assumes this interim role,” the town said in a statement.

The town will soon start the process of selecting a permanent chief and will make public announcements as the search progresses, according to a statement.
