No Opponent for Mayor Joseph Sullivan
The two-term mayor was the only resident to pull papers for this fall's mayoral election.

Barring a surprise and unlikely challenge from a write-in candidate, Braintree Mayor Joseph Sullivan will not have an opponent this fall.
According to Town Clerk James Casey, no other residents aside from Sullivan took out papers for the election by Friday’s 5 p.m. deadline.
Sullivan, a two-term mayor will run unopposed for his third term.

Since there are less than three candidates running for mayor, there will be no September preliminary election per the town charter according to Casey.
Nomination papers for the remaining positions on the ballot may be obtained at the town clerk’s office through Sept. 11.
