Over $93,000 in Checks From Braintree Unclaimed

Did you forget to pick up a check from Town Hall?

BRAINTREE, MA — If you're low on cash, you might want to check and see if you have an abandoned check at Town Hall

As of Jan. 24, Braintree has over 600 unclaimed checks totaling $93,455.32, according to the town's treasurer's office. Some of the checks go back to 2008, while some are more recent and are from 2015.

The biggest unclaimed check belongs to Mass Teachers Retire for $10,820. That check was issued on Oct. 27, 2010. National Grid-Hydro apparently didn't pick up a check for $5,860.73 issued on Feb. 5, 2012 and neither did Ryder Truck Rental, who never claimed a $5,000 check issued on March 23, 2011.

According to state law, checks are presumed abandoned unless claimed by the person entitled to them within three years after the date prescribed for payment. Click here to see the full list.
