Parts of East Middle School Closing Before End Of School Year
Construction crews will begin work on the kitchen, locker rooms, and auditorium two weeks before the end of the school year.

BRAINTREE, MA — The kitchen, locker rooms, and auditorium at East Middle School will close before the end of the school year, the school committee was told at Monday night's meeting.
Construction crews will begin work on those parts of the school in early June, two weeks prior to end the end of school year, the Patriot Ledger reported. Superintendent Frank Hackett announced that school lunches will be made at another location and brought to the school during that time.
As for next school year, Hackett said the plan is for students to start September in a new addition to the building, as well as 12 renovated classrooms from the existing building. Construction on the new addition began last week, school committee member Thomas Devin told the Patriot Ledger. He said the $81.3 million project is within budget and still on schedule for the rest of the school to be renovated during the next school year.
