Petersen Pool Hearing Gets Moved To December
Wednesday night, the planning board voted to continue the hearing to December.

BRAINTREE, MA — The planning board was scheduled to discuss the Petersen Pool project Wednesday night, but they won't discuss the plan until next month.
At the request of the applicant, the board voted to continue the hearing to Dec. 13 at 7: 15 p.m.
"The Applicants are still working with the Board's peer review consultant to resolve the remaining stormwater management concerns. As such, the Applicants respectfully requests that the board continue the public hearing regarding the pending application," Scott Lacy, an attorney for the project, wrote in a letter to the board.

In May 2015, Mayor Joseph Sullivan announced that a plan had come together to complete tugboat Captain August Julius Petersen's dream of a community pool for Braintree. Since then, the project has moved slowly through the planning process. Last December, the project's developer came forward with a scaled-down version that cut the building down from 157,000 square feet to 86,600 square feet. While both rinks and the pool remain, an indoor turf space was removed. The building was moved further away from the property line and the closest abutters as well.
Project officials were also expected to appear in front of the conservation commission Thursday night, but that is now unlikely.
