Planning Board Member Named Mayor's Chief of Staff

Joseph Reynolds has been named the chief of staff and director of operations for the town of Braintree.

Mayor Joseph C. Sullivan has announced the appointment of Joseph Reynolds of Braintree as chief of staff and director of operations for the town of Braintree. Mr. Reynolds will assume his new position effective Monday, Jan. 23, 2017.

Reynolds brings more than twenty years of management and analyst experience with both Fidelity Investments and the State Street Corporation. In addition to his service in the private sector he has been Vice Chairman of the Braintree Planning Board since 2008. From 1983 until 1998 he was a commissioned officer in the Massachusetts Army National Guard.

“Joe will be a strong addition to our leadership team” said Sullivan. “His knowledge and experience of our local government, his service in the Massachusetts National Guard and his many years in management roles in the private sector will bring a unique perspective to this position and one that I know will serve our town well.”

“I am honored to be entrusted by Mayor Sullivan with this new role of Chief of Staff and Director of Operations” said Reynolds. “I’m looking forward to continuing the tradition of my predecessors to provide sound counsel to the Mayor and to help enable the town’s department heads to meet their daily mission of delivering services to our taxpayers and residents. I have much to learn moving forward and I’m enthusiastic to take on the challenges of this position.

Mr. Reynolds succeeds current Norwell Town Administrator Peter Morin who served as Chief of Staff from 2008 until 2014 and the late Michael Coughlin who served from 2014 until 2016.

Upon his assumption of the duties of Chief of Staff Mr. Reynolds will be stepping down as member of the Planning Board. The Mayor will be appointing a new member in the coming weeks.
