BRAINTREE, MA — Voters in two Braintree districts will cast their ballots at new polling locations beginning with the presidential primary election on March 3, Town Clerk Jim Casey announced. Residents in District 1A will vote at the town hall instead of the Marge Crispin Center, while District 2B voters will cast ballots at the Eugene Hollis School instead of St. Thomas More Parish Hall.

The District 1A changes are permanent and were approved by the Town Council in November, but the District 2B changes are temporary — at least for now. District 2B residents will vote in the new location for the primary and the March 28 special election, but before permanent changes are made, District 2 Councilor Steven Sciascia requested voters have a say in the change. A public hearing was scheduled for May 26.

Casey said the District 2B change was necessary because scheduled Saturday parish services at St. Thomas would have interfered with the special election. He said there would be a lot of confusion if voters were asked to go to two polling locations in the same month.

Casey said there will be signs at the old polling locations and welcome banners at the new ones to help make sure people know where to go.
