Ross Elementary School Is Ready To Reopen

BRAINTREE, MA — Ross Elementary School will open Wednesday for the first time since Friday's storm damaged the roof.
Superintendent Frank Hackett wrote in a letter to parents that the building inspector has approved the use of Ross Elementary for school starting Wednesday. Hackett wrote that the engineering evaluation determined that the roof did not suffer structural damage during the storm and the roofing contractor completed installation of a roofing solution to make the building weathertight.
"All air quality samples have been analyzed and are within normal ranges, and our environmental consultant will continue to regularly test and monitor air quality over the coming weeks to ensure safety. The gymnasium area has been thoroughly cleaned, and we are excited to welcome students, staff and parents back!" Hackett wrote.

In a separate statement, Hackett said South Middle School's roof didn't suffer structural damage during the storm and work to make the building weathertight should be completed by Wednesday, prior to the predicted storm.
"Additionally, all air quality samples have been analyzed and are within normal ranges, and our environmental consultant will continue to regularly test and monitor air quality over the coming weeks to ensure safety. Building cleaning continues, and we anticipate that most, if not all, ceiling tiles that were removed as part of the cleanup effort will be replaced by Friday," Hackett said.

If all goes according to plan, classes at the middle school will be back in session by Thursday.
Both schools suffered damage during the nor'easter and were closed Monday and Tuesday. Crews have been working since Saturday to make repairs that will allow the schools to reopen.
