Rubio, Clinton Lead Among Braintree Donors

See how much money Braintree residents are contributing to Presidential campaigns.

BRAINTREE, MA - Massachusetts voters will take to the polls on Super Tuesday, March 1, to cast their ballots for the presidential nomination in each party, and if campaign contributions are any indication of appeal, Hillary Clinton should be a big winner on the Democratic side.

Clinton has received $4,042,909 so far in campaign donations from people in the state, according to publicly available contribution data from the Federal Election Commission.

Her rival, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, has raised $1,414,239 in Massachusetts.

On the Republican side, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio leads candidates in the state with $634,775, followed by Gov. Jeb Bush with $634,775. Bush recently suspended his campaign.

Donald Trump, who has dominated primary polling, has raised only $55,790 but has mainly self-funded his campaign.

Following voting in three states, Clinton leads Sanders in pledged delegates, 52 to 51. But Clinton holds a commanding lead over the Vermont Sen. in the race for the nomination overall with the support of 445 superdelegates compared to just 18 superdelegates for Sanders.

The last time Virginia voted in a Democratic presidential primary, the state’s citizens chose Barack Obama over Clinton, 64 percent to 35 percent.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day.
