School Committee Gets First Look at 2016-17 School Calendar

BRAINTREE, MA - There are some changes to the proposed 2016-17 school calendar.

Revealed during Monday's school committee meeting, the staggered school start has come to an end and freshman orientation will now take place during the regular start of school. According to Superintendent Frank Hackett, the high school believes they can accommodate the orientation without the freshmen coming in early.

Due to the Presidential election, Nov. 8 will be a staff development day. A half day in usually scheduled for early November has been moved to December to avoid a half day and an off day to start the month.

The last day of school will be June 19 with no snow days and June 26 if all five are used.

The school committee will vote on the calendar in April.
