Second Shutout for Braintree Babe Ruth in State Tournament

Braintree 15-year-old Babe Ruth played its second game in the state tournament Saturday, defeating Taunton 3-0.

Following Scott Creedon's shutout Friday against Lynn, Bill Roche had a shutout of his own, coach Carl Zingarelli said. Sean Casey was the big hitter with a single and double. Taunton was a great opponent, Zingarelli said, but fell short to Braintree's pitching.

Braintree will play its third game on Tuesday night at 5:30 p.m. in Saugus at World Series Park. This will conclude the pool play and the two top teams from each division will advance to the semi-finals on Saturday, July 27 and finals July 28.
