Snow Emergency Declared in Braintree

Mayor Joseph Sullivan has declared a snow emergency in Braintree.

With another snowstorm on the way, Mayor Joseph Sullivan has declared a snow emergency in Braintree effective immediately.

An on-street parking ban will be in effect starting at 12:01 a.m. Saturday morning and will remain in place indefinitely. Parking on the street and in the municipal parking lots will not be allowed and violators will be towed. Parking will be allowed at Sunset Lake, Watson Park and the yacht club.

Trash pickup scheduled to take place on Saturday will go on as planned.

“With the predictions of another significant weather event commencing Saturday afternoon we are taking this emergency step to be fully prepared,” Sullivan said in a statement. “Our DPW crews continue to widen and scrape streets in anticipation of the oncoming storm and I ask for residents’ continued cooperation and patience as we do our work to make our town as safe as possible.”

Still recovering from a storm earlier in the week, another foot of snow could hit Braintree this weekend. The snow is expected to start Saturday afternoon before picking up early Sunday morning.
