BRAINTREE, MA — A person was shot at the South Shore Plaza Saturday, according to police. Braintree police said the shooting happened just after 3:30 p.m. One person was shot after gunfire broke out near Forever 21 inside the mall. "We heard the screams and we heard the trampling of feet. It was like a mass running of kids and adults, and people grabbing everyone that they could, dropping their bags and running in front of my store, which is all glass fronts," a woman who works at <a href="https://www.wcvb.com/article/south-shore-plaza-shooting-braintree-massachusetts-january-22-2022/38855301" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">South Shore Plaza told WCVB</a>. A spokesperson for the Massachusetts State Police said the victim was male and was transported to a Boston hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police temporarily enacted a shelter in place at the mall. Just before 4 p.m., police tweeted it was safe for anyone sheltering inside the mall to come out. Police said the suspect is still at large. Anyone with information relative to the incident should call Braintree Police Detectives at 781-794-8620, contact Mass State Police Detectives or e-mail tips@braintreema.gov.
