Storms Plows Through Braintree's Snow Removal Budget
The recent snowstorms has the town exceeding their budget for snow and ice removal.

The historic snowfall seen in Braintree and the rest of the area has as expected, taken a huge toll on the snow removal budget.
Speaking at last night’s town council meeting, Mayor Joseph Sullivan said that the town has exceeded its $400,000 budget to remove snow from the streets, spending close to $500,000.
Sullivan said he expects the town to spend about $1 million based on where they are.

Despite the issues surrounding removing a historic amount of snow, Sullivan praised town officials for their work during the two storms that hit Braintree in the past few weeks.
“When you have a snow challenge like this, it’s a test. Due to the work we’ve been able to perform, we past the test. I acknowledge there were assignments that we missed but we were able to go back and clean up,” Sullivan said,

To offset the costs, Sullivan said the town would apply for a reimbursement from the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency.
Despite the massive amounts of snow already seen, the National Weather Services says to expect more this weekend through Tuesday. With additional snow on the way, Sullivan is asking residents to show patience with the cleanup.
“At times it is a challenge and we’re working through it so I ask for the public’s patience as we work through this historic snowfall,” he said.
