Suspect in Watson Park Cases to Face Indecent Assault and Battery Charges

The suspect will be summonsed to Quincy District Court on three counts of indecent assault and battery.

Braintree, MA — A minor will face charges related to a string of recent incidents around Watson Park.

The Braintree Police Department has filed charges and will seek three counts of indecent assault and battery, according to Police Chief Russ Jenkins.

“These incidents have, understandably, been cause for great worry in the East Braintree area,” Police Chief Russell Jenkins said in a release. “It is important that residents concerned about their safety know that the investigation has progressed to this point and feel reassured in their safety.”

Reports of a suspicious male were first revealed on June 28. The cases often involved a male following or assaulting a woman in the area.

Surveillance footage of the suspect was made public on July 1. The next day, an adult contacted the police department and provided information on the identity of the person depicted in the video images, police said.

The juvenile, whose name will not be released due to his age, was not arrested. He will be summonsed to appear before a clerk-magistrate in Quincy District Court, according to Jenkins.

"I am confident that these incidents will not be repeated by this individual. Nonetheless, we will continue to have a visible police presence in the East Braintree neighborhoods," Jenkins wrote on the Braintree Police Department NextDoor page.
