This Town is Changing. Time to Stop Whispering About This Issue

Town Issue, School System, Real Estate

First of all let me just tell you that I am a lifelong resident of Braintree. I grew up here, met my wife here and raised my children here. I love this town and the people. I am not a prejudiced, racist, bigoted person by any means. I have very good friends from all demographics of life, Asian, Black, White, Gay, Straight, Jewish, Atheist what have you. That being said I cannot help but notice how quickly and drastically the makeup of this town is changing. Apparently a large part of the Asian population in Quincy and other surrounding communities have gotten wind of our fantastic school system and have decided to swarm our local real estate market and school system. This is not a problem at all, I can’t blame them. As I said I have a few Asian friends, they have one family in their home, they are extremely friendly, pay their taxes, everyone in house is accounted for and they are an asset to the town. The problem I have and I know I’m not alone in this is the families that buy a house and move 2-3 families in and then take advantage of our school system, do not speak English or even look at their neighbors. This is not a shot at the Asian community, I would have a problem with this if it was any race or persons. I just have noticed it is the Asian community that is doing this.

I have heard a handful of instances lately regarding young adults (one of which was my nephew and fiance) who are unable to purchase a house IN THE TOWN THEY GREW UP IN! They have the money to buy the home and they put in offers all over the place but the Asian family comes in and pays over asking price, full cash, no inspection or contingency’s. They then proceed to move 2-3 families in there and the street is flooded with cars. I recently heard of this happening at a home where a friend of mine lives on Monatiquot Ave and West St. The Asian family’s bought the home, moved over a dozen people in, put newspapers on the windows so nobody could see in? Every night the street is lined with way too many cars for just one or even 2 families from this house.  Our children that grew up in this town should be able to have a shot at purchasing a home in this town so they can raise their children here.

I have a couple issues with this, where is all this cash coming from? What is this doing to our school system? My daughters friend is a teacher and told me that they are just showing up in the school system really unable to communicate in English. My question is am I paying for these kids to go to school with my taxes while they are living in a 2 bedroom home with 15 people next door to me bringing down my property value?

It’s time for him to step up and get the Inspection Division or off their rear ends and start checking who is actually occupying these homes and are they here legally?

We don’t live in Quincy and our home values and school system show that. We live in Braintree, and the way we are going, the future of Braintree looks very Quincy-ish.

We need to make it known to these people that Braintree is not friendly when it comes to moving multiple international families into a home to take advantage of our stellar school system.

Mayor Sullivan was born and raised here as well and needs to start saving our town.

It’s time to stop with the whispers and bring this to light before it gets even more out of hand.

If nothing else write the mayor an email and voice your concerns as well.
