Town Council Grants Easement for Landing Pub
The vote allows Landing Pub to go ahead with construction.

Braintree, MA —After a fire destroyed the building housing Ultimate Pizza and Landing Pub, a new building will soon be open for business.
Tuesday night, the Braintree Town Council approved a seating and ramp easement for 2-10 Commercial St., marking the final step for the return of the Landing Pub.
In March 2015, the restaurant and pizza shop were the victims of a fire that destroyed the establishments located on the Braintree side of the Weymouth Landing. According to a letter to the Town Council from Mayor Joseph Sullivan, the owners had secured a permit from the Planning Board to update and remodel the restaurant to include outdoor dining.

As part of the reconstruction, the pub needed a 5-7 foot wide easement over a portion of the sidewalk within the layout of Commercial Street, immediately abutting the restaurants and extending 37 feet for outdoor seating and a handicapped accessible ramp, Sullivan said.
“I have had numerous discussions with the owners of this site and endorse the revitalization of their business, including the added enhancement of outdoor dining along the sidewalk,” Sullivan wrote.

Members of the council spoke with anticipation about the day the establishment can reopen.
“They have faced some real struggle with the fire. You guys are truly a small business in the community we need back,” Councilor Charles Kokoros said.
“I know the type of establishment you run. Things are done right, it’s always been that way. I love the idea of outdoor seating. Hopefully, we can finally see some progress,” Councilor Michael Owen said.
