Town Council Members Want More Information on Generating Station

Some councilors are unsure about a proposed $95 million loan for Braintree Electric Light Department to build a new generating station.

Members of the Braintree Town Council would like more information on a $95 million loan for Braintree Electric Light Department to build a new generating station.

The Patriot Ledger reports that the 64-megawatt generating station would replace the Potter 2 station in 2019 and would be located off Quincy Avenue.

Members of the council have not necessarily been receptive to the proposal. Councilor Dan Clifford said he has been troubled by the process while Councilor Shannon Hume said she was unsure of the reason for a new plant.
