Town Council to Take Up East Middle School Renovation
The council is scheduled to vote on funding the feasibility study.

BRAINTREE, MA — Councilors in Braintree will take up the East Middle School project at their meeting Tuesday.
The board is slated to vote on a $286,974 appropriation that will be used to pay for the school's feasibility study.
In a letter to the council, Mayor Joseph Sullivan says that the funds are needed to cover the cost of the architectural plans that need to be filed and submitted to the Massachusetts School Building Authority. The MSBA is expected to cover about 58 percent of the overall cost of the project.

The project calls for the renovation of the school along with the construction of an addition to accommodate fifth grade students. Sullivan said the move would open up about 22 classrooms at the elementary schools. At a School Committee meeting last month, Sullivan said the preliminary cost of the project is $69 million before MSBA funding.
Tuesday's Town Council meeting at Town Hall is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.
