Town Hires New Veterans’ Agent

Cynthia Shelton Harris comes to Braintree from Millis.

Town of Braintree Human Resources Director Karen Shanley has announced that Cynthia Shelton Harris will be assuming the responsibilities as Braintree’s Veteran’s Agent, on Sept. 11. Ms. Harris will be replacing Richard Walsh, who retired on Aug. 31 after eight years of service as the town’s Veterans’ agent. Harris has been the Veterans’ Agent in Millis since 2016. She served in the United States Air Force from 2008 to 2016 and has Bachelors and Masters’ Degrees from Northeastern University. Harris was chosen from a field of twenty candidates with a number of highly qualified applicants. Harris will bring a high level of commitment and professionalism to the Veterans’ Office.

“In my conversations with Cynthia during the interview process it quickly became clear that she was someone who had a deep commitment to providing her fellow Veterans with exceptional service,” said Mayor Sullivan.

There will be an event in the fall where the Commanders from Braintree Veterans organizations, as well as Braintree veterans will have an opportunity to meet Harris.

Ms. Harris will be sworn in by Mayor Sullivan on Sept. 11.
