Two Busted at Plaza for Allegedly Stealing Nearly $2,000 of Clothing

Two people – from Lawrence and Haverhill – were arrested last Thursday afternoon by Braintree police after they allegedly took more than $1,800 worth of clothing from at the .

Loss prevention at the store called the police after watching them put more than 40 pieces of clothing into "booster bags" lined with duct tape, tin foil or another metallic substance meant to stop electronic theft systems from going off, Deputy Chief Russell Jenkins said in a statement.

Jorge Alvarado, 31, of Lawrence and Virgen Fernandez, 25, of Haverhill were detained and then found with the merchandise. They were both charged with larceny over $250, Jenkins said, and Alvarado had an outstanding warrant for a drug offense.
