Veteran-Owned Braintree Business Gets a Boost From the State
A Braintree-owned business will receive a $750,000 line of credit.

The following is from the office of state Senator John Keenan.
On Wednesday morning, state legislators and officials were on hand to announce a state award to a Braintree-based small business. Veterans’ Development Corporation, a Disabled Veteran Owned general contracting and construction business, received a $750,000 line of credit from the Massachusetts Growth Capital Corporation (MGCC), an agency established through a 2010 state economic development law.
The MGCC is a quasi-public agency specifically designed to boost small businesses that have shown potential for continued growth and contribution to their local economies. Because of the nature of the organization, and by its mandate through state law, the MGCC can offer technical assistance, provide targeted financial solutions, and work on flexible terms that would not be offered by a traditional bank or lender. The program, created by the state in 2010, has supported more than 150 small companies since its inception.

State Senator John Keenan, who represents portions of Braintree, attended the ceremony, and said after the presentation that he was “pleased that Massachusetts can provide this kind of support to our veterans, and to our small business leaders who continue to drive economic and job growth for Braintree and other communities.” Keenan also praised the work and leadership by Senator Mike Rush, Chair for the Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, who was also on hand for the event.
Mark Voner, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and CEO of Veterans’ Development Corporation, explained to local media that the extended line of credit will allow his company to take on larger project bids and complete several additional projects across the state.
