Vote on Town Auditor Position On Hold Again

The town council voted to table a vote on the position.

BRAINTREE, MA — The future of the open auditor's position will be decided by the town council on another night.

The council voted Tuesday to table a vote on position’s job description, the second time in as many meetings. The recommendation to table came from the ways and means committee, the group tasked with crafting the job description and deciding if the town should move forward with hiring a full-time auditor. Committee members said they would like to see more data on auditor's salaries from nearby communities.

Last month, the town split with Cohasset accountant Raymond Kasperowicz 6 months into a 3-year contract. At the time of the vote, the council did not give a reason for the separation.
