Wamps Defeat Newton as Girls Hockey Dedicates Performance to Mary Connelly
On Wednesday night at Zapustas Rink, as the first puck of the season dropped, the Lady Wamps hockey team honored Paula Connelly by dedicating the season in her memory.
The Wamps won 3-1 on Wednesday night, defeating Newton and honoring "Hockey Mom" Mary Paula Connelly, who passed away last June from cancer.
All the scoring was in the 3rd period. Haley Payne scored first on a short-handed goal. Newton came back about a minute later on a power play goal. Freshman Meg Gilbride score the game winner and Lauren Connelly scored an insurance goal with an amazing wrist shot from the blue line.
