Want FLAT ABS? Say Hello to the Plank!

The truth is great abs really start in the kitchen, not the gym. But for those of you that are already stabilizing your blood sugar with balanced meals and doing the right kind of cardio to burn the fat covering your abs, your next step is developing a solid core workout. The “Plank”, recommended by most health professionals including my personal Chiropractor and Physical Therapist, is AWESOME for strengthening your entire core, plus your shoulders, chest and quads. 

While you should ALWAYS check with your doctor before beginning any kind of exercise routine, including the plank, here are the tips I use to perfect my form (see pic). I include the plank as part of my regular core routine after a 10 minute cardio warm-up. I started with 30 seconds and slowly held the position for longer as I got stronger.
