When Will Work On The East Middle School Renovation Start?
Project officials are hoping to use the upcoming break as a chance to do some prep work.

BRAINTREE, MA — Preparation for the anticipated East Middle School renovation will start while everyone is away from school.
Representatives for the project said at a recent school committee meeting that fencing will go up around parts of the building during April Vacation and work is scheduled to start after school ends in June.
Michael Carroll of Hill International, the project manager, said most of the land and steel work will be done during the summer to provide minimum disruptions to classes. Project officials said they will honor the town ordinance that allows construction work only between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and will not have deliveries during student pickup and dropoff.

Plans for the $83 million project calls for the creation of two academies within one building. Fifth grade will move to the middle school and occupy one side of the school with sixth grade, while seventh and eighth grade will take the other half of the school. The school should be ready for the 2020-21 school year.
