BRAINTREE, MA — Braintree residents made 34 contributions totaling $9,657 to 5th Norfolk District state representative candidates in 2020, according to year-end campaign finance reports filed with the Massachusetts Office of Campaign and Political Finance.

The biggest beneficiary was incumbent Rep. Mark Cusack (D-Braintree), whose campaign received $6,257 from 10 Braintree donors.

Republican challenger and former U.S. Marine Frank Collins raised $2,100 from 21 Braintree donors. Though Collins is at a significant financial disadvantage, he will have a chance for voters to hear where he stands on the issues when he debates Cusack on Thursday.

Cusack's since defeated primary opponent Paul Hennessy garnered $1,300 from Braintree residents from three donations, $500 of which came from himself, according to the filing reports.
