2 Brockton Men Accused Of Weymouth Home Break-In, Police Chase

WEYMOUTH, MA — Two Brockton men were arrested after breaking into a Weymouth home, leading police on a car chase, and getting caught with about 50 grams of fentanyl, police said.
Roodler Marc Jean-Baptiste, 25, of Randolph, and Nelito E. Mapp-Monteiro, 24, of Brockton, were charged with unarmed burglary, larceny from a building, malicious destruction of property valued at more than $1,200 and possession of burglarious instruments. Jean-Baptiste was also charged with failure to stop for police, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, operating with a suspended license, and several traffic violations.
Around 10 p.m., Sunday, police were called to a home at Avalon Ledges after a homeowner reported seeing two men at the front door, via the house's security system. Officers arrived and told WHDH News the front door was pried open and the apartment was ransacked.

Police noticed a red Honda Sedan leaving the apartment complex, and said they tried pulling it over for several traffic violations. But then, the driver, Jean Baptiste, fled the area, police said. Jean-Baptiste got on to Route 3 North, and started driving towards Braintree. Police said he exited there, but then got back on Route 3 South and got off the exit in Hingham.
He led police on a chase through Hingham, Norwell, Hanover, and Rockland, police told the Patriot Ledger. Prior to getting pulled over on Route 3 in Rockland, police said they saw Mapp-Monteiro throw debit and credit cards out the passenger window. The cards belonged to the Weymouth homeowner.

The pursuit ended when state police set-up sticks used to deflate the suspects' tires on the highway. Police said they seized a safe with 50 grams of fentanyl in it, $10,000 in cash, and a metal crowbar.
Both suspects were arraigned in Quincy District Court on Monday and are expected to face additional charges because of what police said was found in the safe.
